Samantha Heinicke

Aquatic Toxicologist

Samantha Heinicke joined the Port Gamble team in March of 2019. Prior to coming to work with EcoAnalysts she was interning with United States Fish and Wildlife. Samantha has experience in both aquatic and marine ecology, however she prefers to work with marine animals. Samantha graduated with her bachelor’s in environmental science from Huxley on the Peninsulas, a Western Washington University program. For her thesis she preformed surveys on multiple eelgrass meadows throughout the Puget Sound determining when the best time to harvest eelgrass for seeds to optimize eelgrass restoration efforts. During her undergrad, Ms. Heinicke worked on an aquaculture project measuring the amount of mussel fecal matter ingested by the Giant California Sea Cucumbers.
