Sample Handling Technician

EcoAnalysts, Inc. seeks to hire a dedicated Sample Handling Technician to assist with a variety of laboratory tasks. In this position, the successful candidate’s required duties and activities will include check-in and importation of sample details into LIMS. Packaging, storing and retrieval of samples as required. Maintaining inventory spreadsheets and properly disposing or preparing samples for return to clients. The candidate should display a strong work ethic and integrity and be able to meet deadlines either in a small team cooperative environment or by working independently. The ideal candidate will ask questions, be open to constructive feedback, and care about the overall success of the company. We provide on- the-job training, so experience is desired but not required.

This is a part-time position with the potential of becoming full-time as additional duties are learned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft products, mostly Excel

  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license

  • Ability to lift 50-100lbs regularly is required

  • High school diploma or GED

Duties Required to Become Full-Time:

  • Sample sorting. Majority of additional work is completed at a microscope, so the ability to use one for prolonged periods while tolerating the microscope light is a must.

  • An intense attention to detail

  • Basic math skills

  • Ability to sit and focus for long periods of time

  • Preferred: college coursework or degree in environmental science, biology, or aquatic ecology
